Wat Machimmaran, Kelantan, Malaysia
Wat Machimmaran is another popular buddhist temple in Kelantan as it has a statue of sitting buddha which is 30 metre high and 18 metre wide sitting on top of its roof. It was built in 1990 and completed in 2000.

This main building where the sitting buddha sits has 108 statues of sitting buddha at the back area. In the front area, there are 18 Arhats which I think are similar to the 18 Lohans in Chin Swee Temple area in Genting Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia.

Outside this temple, there are two statues of Door Gods, the Black-Faced Door God and one White-Faced Door God. Door Gods are chinese gods and not related to Buddhism. It started during the Tang Dynasty when the Emperor Tang Taizong was unable to sleep because he felt that a ghost was harassing him. He summoned his two generals, Qin Shubao and Yuchi Jingde to guard his door. He slept well that night and decided to hang a painting of his two general on his door so as not to bother them. It worked and since then people began to follow him to prevent bad spirits from entering their permises.

Wat Machimmaran is located in JuBakar Village in Tumpat, Kelantan. To get there by bus, go Kota Bahru bus terminal and take bus #27 or #19. These bus should pass in front of Wat Machimmaran.
